What's Playing? 12/17 Weekend

***

This weekend in theatres is okay looking with just a few good looking films.
The much anticipated, sequel to the 80's Tron, super cool looking TRON: Legacy in 3-D is my top pick.
The thriller/horror And Soon the Darkness about a young woman's friend gone missing in a foreign country looks creepy.
Rabbit Hole, a drama starring Nicole Kidman, who deals with the loss of her young child  looks great but depressing to watch.
The based on a true story, Casino Jack about a D.C. lobbyist involved in scandal after scandal looks interesting because of the interesting Kevin Spacey playing the role.
The romantic comedy How Do You Know looks cute because of cutie Reese Witherspoon but not so funny even though it stars Paul Rudd and Owen Wilson, and oddly big named actor Jack Nicholson thrown in the mix.
The kid friendly Yogi Bear looks unappealing all together unless you're a kid.

Here's the run down of new movies opening in theatres starting this Friday:

TRON: Legacy
What's It About:
The sequel to the 1980's Tron, based on the arcade game.

Why See It?
-Because it looks so cool.
-If you're a fan of the the 80's Tron movie/and or the 80's arcade game inspired by the film.

Why Skip It?
You don't think the trailer looks cool at all, never saw the first movie or played the game.

And Soon
the Darkness
What's It About:
Two girlfriends on vacation in Argentina are having fun until one of them goes missing.

Why See It?
It's slightly reminiscent of the 2006 horror Turistas, so if you enjoyed that, you probably will like this.

Why Skip It?
You'd rather see something more Christmas-y than a horror in December.

Rabbit Hole
What's It About:
A married couple tries to cope after the death of their young son.

Why See It?
Real story, great cast.

Why Skip It?
 Too depressing looking.

Casino Jack
What's It About:
True story of the scandal filled Washington lobbyist Jack Ambramoff.

Why See It?
For Kevin Spacey's charismatic looking performance as Ambramoff.

Why Skip It?
A movie on a lobbyist doesn't seem interesting not one bit, no matter who is
playing him.

How Do You Know
What's It About:
A love triangle between a girl and two guys.

Why See It?
If you're a fan of Whiterspoon, Rudd, Wilson or Nicholson.

Why Skip It?
The plot is hardly original.

Yogi Bear
What's It About:
The talking, food loving bear named Yogi and his side kick Boo Boo having adventures on the big screen.

Why See It?
If you're a Yogi Bear fan of course.

Why Skip It?
You're not a Yogi Bear fan.
